Great cushioning and plenty of toe room

Overall

The Topo Ultraventure is the perfect balance of cushioning, weight and durability. I can run for hours on rocky terrain in them without feeling my feet are hamburger. I love the toe box, as narrower shoes give me turf toe. The outsole is durable and sticky rubber for fast descents.

Good trail show for wide feet

Overall

I wear Asdics GT-2000 in wide for road shoes but most of the major trail brands do not fit my feet. It was down to the Brooks Cascadia, Altra Lone Peaks, and Topo Ultraventure. My feet felt like they were slipping around in the Cascadias, and the zero drop of the Altras is too aggressive for me. The Topos felt comfortable out of the box and have been fine on the trail. They're not always grippy on bare rocks and they are a bit too soft for really technical trails. They are great for moderately technical trails and if you need to do some road running as well.

Ultraventure delivers

Overall

Topo athletic hit the mark with their ultraventure. The shoes is very comfortable even on long runs. I've probably only put 100 miles on these shoes but I've had no feet issues. I have felt an occasional sharp rock underfoot but never enough to cause significant discomfort, much less any bruising. They fit true to size. I'd definitely reccomend these shoes to anyone looking a versatile shoe to cover an ultra.

If you run off-road, you need the Topo Athletic Ultraventure

Overall

I've been an ultrarunner for 27 years and THIS is the most comfortable trail shoe I have had the pleasure of wearing. Bar none. A true slipper, and a protective one at that. Buy. this. shoe.
