Favourite trail shoe, ever Pure Grit 6

5/5

Overall

Not available now but written to remind me what a great shoe is, now that they're all machine-moulded thin walls which slide around your foot. Brooks' Pure Grit 6 was the last trail shoe I really enjoyed. Just enough midfoot cushioning to make rough rocks comfortable, sewn upper with enough give/sponginess to fit firmly round your foot rather. Wish I'd bought 10 pairs.

Even better than PureGrit 4?

5/5

Overall

Brooks PureGrit 4 were my first off road running shoes. We did around 1000km together - the last 300/400 of those were spent looking everywhere for a replacement as the PureGrit 4 had been discontinued and the new 5s were quite different and didn’t feel right. But I had to give up in the end - my 4s were just too old. So I got the 5s and after about 100km I realised they really were even better. I wear them on open moorland, sandy and rocky sections of my local beach and for hill trails too (although they’re quite soft so would avoid any terrain that is too jagged). I would highly recommend.

Finally found my optimal shoe for daily use

5/5

Overall

This is a fairly minimalist shoe with adequate padding. I've never had a blister with this shoe, though blisters are a daily occurrence in my Pearl Izumi synchro frames and hoka neutrals that I was gifted.
