Good, solid, quick shoe

Anonymous runner · Sep 28, 2025

4/5

Overall

Have a nagging Achilles injury, this shoe has been the only one I’ve found I can train in. Also it light enough to race 8k and up and has plenty of support. Would be my choice should I ever run a marathon again.

Hoka One One Mach

Anonymous runner · Sep 28, 2025

Overall

Been a great shoe as I have been running mostly easy miles in a comeback from an injury a year ago. Not as responsive on faster runs, but doesn't ever inhibit me even on trails.

A half size too big

Overall

The Hoka Mach is light, responsive, and sufficiently cushioned. My only knock on the shoe is that it's about a half size too big.

Comfortable shoe, can be used as a trainer

I originally purchased this shoe for uptempo efforts, as it was advertised but the cushioning made it so that i could wear it as a daily trainer.

Hoka Mach: Great trainer and racer!

Anonymous runner · Sep 28, 2025

4/5

Overall

Upper: The upper of the Mach is very secure and supportive, but also quite stiff. It took a little while for it to break in, but once it did it was comfortable. Midsole: This shoe uses Hoka's ProFly midsole which means that it's softer in the heel and firmer in the forefoot. While the midsole is generally pretty stiff overall, the thick stackheight allowed for protection and comfort on longer runs. The firmer forefoot allowed for better toe-offs at quicker paces. Outsole: The outsole is RMAT (a rubber and foam hhybrid compound) which allows the shoe to be light and add a little bounce to it. While it isn't as durable as blown rubber, I haven't add any huge durability issues with it. Keeping in on roads is probably best considering it doesn't have much grip. Summary: Having run in the Tracer and Clifton 4, the Mach sits right inbetween the two. I use the Tracer for shorter speed work, and the Clifton as an everyday trainer. I found the Mach to be great for long tempo runs and fartleks, faster paced runs, but can still be comfortable for recovery days. In a few weeks I will be using this shoe to race a half marathon, and I would recommend it to other people looking for a light, cushioned, and fast shoe that excels at long distances.
