My Go To Shoe for Short or Long Races

5/5

Overall

I have run my last 10 marathons (starting with Boston 2015) in NB 1400's (various versions obviously) and just LOVE this shoe. It does wear out a bit faster than a shoe with a thicker sole, so I do have another lightweight model shoe with more cushioning I alternate with, and this works out great (Skechers Go Run Ride). I do any race in these and a lot of my training runs in them as well. I hope NB never makes any drastic changes to these shoes. Keep them as they are!!!

NB 1400 V5 Can Do It All

5/5

Overall

I've run in every version of this shoe. The Revlite foam is superbly balanced through the length of the shoe - spare in the front for excellent feel and more cushioned toward the rear for the inevitable heel striking late in a marathon. It is my go to shoe for all dry weather runs and races, however it loses traction quickly when wet. I've raced 5K to marathon in it and even done some light trail running. Tied with the Saucony Kinvira for my favorite shoe. It does break down rather quickly around 250-300 miles, but I seldom get more than 300 miles out of any shoe. New Balance deserves praise for not tinkering with this amazing shoe through various versions.
