Not as much cushioning as I'd like, but overall a very solid shoe. Was able to run over 500 miles in them. Noticeable loss in cushioning after ~200mi, but still quite runnable until 450-500.

I have worn the Pegasus many times over the 34 years I have been running in its various incarnations. Some were better than others. This recent shoe is a horrible color (they all were) and doesn't seem to have as much bounce as the older versions.

Overall

The Nike Pegasus 31 continues the line of being the faithful workhorse for the foot. This shoe can handle the miles at any speed so comfortable. I've seen people run sub 15 minute 5ks on the road in this shoe, thats how versatile it is. It is everything you could want in a shoe, physologically speaking and athletically speaking. It is light, thin, and firm... Those are the 3 characteristics that Jay Dichary, author of Anatomy for Runners reccomends having in a shoe for the optimal exercise of all of the muscles within your legs. Hestically, the shoe is at the top, Nike's designer Mark Miner who created this shoe hand comfort, style, and efficiency in mind, not to mention 16,000 miles of research between all of the prototypes before the shoe came out. This shoe is not just a shoe, it is a progressive work in progress of how it can be better and better each generation of it's release and has been built upon for over THIRTY years. The Nike Pegasus, not just a shoe, a legacy of greatness... always in progress.

I have run in the Pegasus since middle school. I went to a doctor who told me she thought the shoe was too narrow. I have typically feet for someone of my age/height/weight and Pegasus has never felt narrow to me. It enough cushion to handle trails and pounding the pavement.
