4/5

Overall

Sized up a 1/2 size and used this without a sockliner to gain the forefoot volume that I needed. I enjoyed the light, nimble feel of the Wildhorse when new. The shoe also looked great when new. However, the outer layer of the upper is really thin and gets shredded quickly from flex cycles, noticeable after less than 100 miles, detracting from the appearance score. The inner layer of the upper and underlays survived until I retired the shoes at 600+ miles. The midsole no longer provided cushioning in the forefoot after about 400 miles... I just dragged out the wear for more miles to get more value from the shoe. The shoes squeak when wet... possibly from the wet Zoom Air units?

Lightweight and responsive. Good on all terrain. Light enough to race on the roads. Comfortable with good cushioning without the added weight.

Overall

I really like this shoe on technical trails where good grip is necessary. I use it mainly for shorter runs, and Hokas for long runs. Colors are a little crazy for me, but some people like that. I really like the roomy toebox, comfortable upper, and 4mm drop heel. A really excellent shoe.
