Lightweight racing flat

Overall

The ER2 has changed quite significantly from the original. The soles are now MUCH more durable. They don't have those awful track treads that wore away after just a couple of runs and instead have just a single foam layer that's held up surprisingly well after a few hundred miles. It's still a zero drop shoe but the sole is a bit thicker than the original ER and has a bit more "bounce" to it which I think I feels quite good when I'm racing. On the other hand, the thicker sole makes it just a bit heavier than the ER, about 140g. Here's the bad bit: the original ER was quite comfortable with a wide(ish) toe box that was true to the shape of the foot. The ER2 is horrendously narrow at the toes. They look more like football cleats now! The uppers are very thin and quite durable and if it wasn't for the ridiculously cramped toe box, these would be the perfect replacement for the discontinued Hattori.
