Saucony Ride 10

4/5

Overall

Great trainer for longer training runs on mixed terrain (pavement, gravel, non technical singletrack). The 8mm drop provides good midfoot landing support. The shoe doesn't press my weight forward causing my toes to cramp, and it has a sufficiently wide forefoot (*note I have narrow feet). Cushioning is great: not too rigid and not too soft so a good return on foot strike. Holds up very well is stitching and sole.

Great shoe, but....

5/5

Overall

Best Saucony Ride in a long time. Light, cushiony, and--get this--durable. It has one weird feature, but unlike other Rides, it won't give out on a 10-miles plus run--the cushioning continues at least through 12 miles (haven't run farther in them). The weird feature: cushioning insole feels hard and lumpy for the first 8-10 minutes of a run. It settles down into a really nice groove after that, cushioning my entire foot, and sustains the cushioning for the length of the run. I've been running in 2 pairs for nearly 3 months now--I'm apparently hard on shoes, and this is the longest for me for the Rides. The weird feature I mentioned has persisted, but since I've come to expect it I've more-or-less gotten used to it. The shoe is flexible and relatively light, nearly ideal for training runs. I'm planning on buying another set when these give out.
