nobody told me i would need to write anything about this anywho i've been running in ds trainers for like 11 years and never had any issues. probably a combination of the shoe, my body type, and some dumb luck.

Overall

Very versatile shoe, it is light enough for tempo runs and some faster speed work, but still has enough support for long runs. Only complaint is that they wear out faster than other shoes as I find myself needing to switch after ~300 miles instead of 400-500. Not much difference in this update from the last one.

Good, lightweight training shoe

Anonymous runner · Mar 1, 2018

Overall

I've traditionally run in heavier Asics, the old 20x0 series and Kayanos. I started having pain in the top of my foot and decided to try a lighter shoe. I'm on my second of the DS Trainer series and like them a lot. They don't have as much cushioning as some options, but the provife enough support for my moderate overpronation.

Light on Your Feet...and Maybe Miles Too

jakehills · Feb 13, 2018

4/5

Overall

The Asics Gel-DS Trainer 22 is an amazingly light shoe. It is so light, I would argue that you could race in them if you wanted. They're a great tempo or long run show, or any day you want to have a good responsive shoe on a day you wanna go faster. Asics comes through with support as weel, cramming a lot of support in this lightweight shoe. The shoe is also appealing in the red and gold color way. The downside to the shoe is that since introducing FlyteFoam, this Asics trainer has seen a rapid decline in durability, meaning you either have to replace them quickly or use them sparingly in your rotation. Overall a great buy though, and if you need a good workout shoe or racing flat, this could be it.
