Allround tank

Anonymous runner · Sep 28, 2025

Overall

Good allrounder, especially for mixed undergrounds and door-to-trail runs. I have actually used it a lot on the roads and the outsole held up pretty well. You get a lot of shoe in terms of cushioning and weight which makes them suited more for longer runs. Be aware that the outsole has little to no grip on wet rocks and roots which is unfortunate because the shoe fit with gore tex would be ideal for bad weather.

Dependable, Fashion-Proof Trail Shoe

Anonymous runner · Sep 28, 2025

5/5

Overall

Here's the beauty of running in Brooks Cascadias as your trail shoe: they don't change. I've owned countless pairs over the last decade+ and they all deliver pretty much the same experience: neutral fit, wide toe box, respectable trail outsole that can also hold up to a few miles of road, and enough ruggedness to take solid trail pounding, unlike some other brands I can think of. (Looking at you, Altra!) What do I mean by "fashion-proof?" Let's list the trends that have popped up in shoe tech over the years: barefoot-like running, super-squishy shoes, no heel-toe drop, and I'm sure some others I've forgotten. Well, the Cascadia completely ignores those and keeps on doing its thing. And here's the trick: you can take advantage of this. Once you know the Cascadia works for you, the next time you need a pair, just go online and buy the cheapest out-of-date model you can find in your size! Who cares if it's the newest one? It'll be the same damn shoe--just a good, neutral, reliable trail shoe.
