Great race walking shoe

4/5

Overall

Although discontinued by Saucony, the A-series has been a staple for race walking.  The A9 appears to be the last version, sadly.  Decathlon RW 900 is no longer available as they have pulled out of the North American market.  It too was an awesome race walking show.  I wish one of the big shoe companies would develop/continue a shoe for this underserved market.

Saucony Type A9: Long Distance Racer

5/5

Overall

I use the Saucony Type A9 for half marathon races and have used them for up to 18 mile tempos chugging along at 5:45 pace. For how light they are I feel like they have enough comfort and cushioning to allow my feet / legs to handle the long mileage workouts without feeling extreme fatigue immediately post workout or a couple days after the workout (delayed onset muscle soreness). I have done about 10 workouts or races in these shoes now and there is no indication of any severe wearing, tearing, or ripping. I am thinking about getting a second pair already as I noticed them on sale.
