Fantastic Road Shoe

5/5

Overall

I do about half of my running on hard surfaces and the Torin is my go to road shoe. Lightweight, tough and agile despite the foot-shaped wider toe box. The roomy toe box is why I LOVE altras as running in Brooks for years just about gave me a bunion.

Good for high arched runners who like zero drop

4/5

Overall

If you appreciate zero drop shoes, but have high arches and need higher volume, these are good shoe. I use them for long road runs and recovery days. They stand up great for Altras, but not the best looking shoes IMO.

Pure Unadulterated Love

5/5

Overall

I love this shoe - it fits perfect, I like how it looks, it's super cushioned. Every time I put it on I feel happy. I have several other models by Altra and wear the Escalante's as a work shoe.

The Toruń is back

4/5

Overall

I have long been a fan of the Torin, having run in the 2, 2.5, and 3.0. After being disappointed with the 3.0’s durability, fit, and tough mesh I skipped the 3.5. The 4.0 is a return to the Altra Torin of old, the magical combination of cushioning and responsive make this a great shoe for both longer tempo runs and easy recovery days. I’ve used this shoe for 50km LSD runs and 1000m repeats and enjoyed the experience both times. The two negatives of this shoe are the long shoe laces and the squeaky insoles that disrupt ones run when the slightest bit of moisture comes into contact with the insole. All in all an enjoyable shoe that I suspect will hold up for hundreds of miles to come.
