Long time runner and former athletic shoe exec

Anonymous runner · Sep 28, 2025

5/5

Overall

I compete in the sprints and multi events.  I look for a shoe that I can wear on my longer training runs, but also for longer intervals on the track.  I found the Brooks Glycerin 19 to fit my foot perfectly and provided the right amount of cushioning for me.  Being a multi eventer, I am heavier than the average runner (190 lbs).  I found that running in the newer super cushioned foam shoes tended to change my gait and feel uncomfortable for me.  Even though I worked in the athletic shoe industry for over 40 years, I never worked for Brooks.

Holy grail shoe

So bummed the Glycerin 20 is so different — I keep scouring Amazon to find 19s. This shoe is amazing — high cushion while being super firm and responsive. I’m on my fifth pair. A great alternative to Hoka if you’re not into a squishy shoe.
