This shoe, despite its high stack, is not a max cushion shoe by any means. The speedboard gives it a certain degree of stiffness that offsets all the stack, making it feel like an underwhelming shoe to some people. However, I found that, in combination with the strong rocker, this shoe functioned as a great daily trainer that especially excelled at picking up the pace. I had no problems doing tempo workouts in these shoes, and these are still to date my favorite long run shoes because of how comfortable they feel at the beginning of a long run but how well they’re able to support faster paces. They almost feel like a supershoe with the strong rocker and plate, but instead of some insane energy return it just disappears on your foot, a great feeling when you’re 10 miles deep in a progressive long run. The downsides of this shoe, apart from its unique feel, is it’s price point. While I greatly enjoyed the shoe, I also know that there are equally as good options on the market that are not 170, especially for a daily trainer that I’ll wear out fairly quickly. Overall it’s a great shoe at a not so great price, but it’s feel is definitely something unique.
