Pros

  • Reviewers run tempo, intervals and long runs in it alike.
  • Light at 8.3 oz on a 38mm heel stack.
  • Reviewers say the nylon plate gives a cushioned, propulsive ride without a super shoe's stiffness.

Cons

  • Durability is its lowest-rated dimension at 4.2 out of 5, and two reviewers see the heel outsole worn away by about 300 miles.
  • One reviewer finds it less springy and less cushioned than a super shoe.
  • Three reviewers call the $170 price high.

Great show from Day 1! Comfort last the duration of its 350-400 miles and does not go ‘flat’ on you. Looks great. Feels great rides great. A fast everyday trainer and race shoe!

A great lightweight training shoe. I love this shoe for intervals and long tempo runs, great fit and cushion. Don’t recommend for long runs on uneven surfaces.

Great shoe for tempo and distance runs!

5/5

Overall

The Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 is lightweight, sturdy, provides great energy return, and lets your stride be your stride--that is, it doesn't try to impose a stride on you with gimmicks or over-design. If I had one slightly negative note, it's that it's a little snug at the toe box; but that also adds to its quick energy return, so I don't mind it. Honestly, my distance and tempo is so smooth in this shoe that I've considered testing it out in races in place of the supershoes I currently favor. I generally alternate shoes (and shoe brands) every day, as a hedge against injury, but I've taken to breaking out the Endorphins on a more regular basis. Two thumbs way up for this shoe (please, Saucony, don't redesign it!).

Solid but not as poppy as hoped

There is a lot to like on this. Good turnover and endurance, but never really feel it is that helpful or springy. It also lack the full cushioning of a super shoe.
