Pros

  • Reviewers use them for easy miles, long runs and tempo work.
  • Many reviewers call it smoother and more responsive than the Pegasus 34.
  • Several runners get 400 to 600 miles before retiring a pair.

Cons

  • Runners with wide feet often find the toe box tight.
  • Some report the cushioning flattening or the outsole wearing around 300 miles.
  • The reshaped heel counter divides reviewers, and one finds it abrasive enough to rule the shoe out.

Exceeded expectations

Overall

The obvious difference between the 35 and its predecessor is the heel cup; that’s actually what kept me from first buying it. At first glance, I thought that I would notice the change too much on my runs and that I would pretty much be flushing away $90 . I couldn’t have been more wrong. First things first, you don’t notice the new heel that much. This is because the new cup is meant to reduce any stress brought on to the Achilles while still holding it in place (a wonderful addition courtesy of Sir Mo Farah). Another neat addition is the revised midsole that is more responsive and resembles the sole on the zoom fly and the 4%. Nike also redesigned the upper with breathable mesh to really keep the foot in place. Nike keeps up its wonderful 20 year tradition and really nails it out of the park with the newest addition to the long running Pegasus line up.

Before I had shin splint issues, now, I don’t. Probably just a better fit with a more responsive midsole so I could have a bit of a more efficient stride. True to size and really versatile.

I use this shoe almost solely for easy running. It’s great for that and my orthotic fits in quite nicely. When I have done harder sessions wearing it, I have no complaints.

Pretty Middle-Of-The-Road Shoe

4/5

Overall

I think Nike's idea of this shoes is to make it appeal to as many people as possible, this show achieves that perfectly. The shoe is just light enough and feels 'fast' enough for it to be used for more speedy workouts. The shoe is comfortable enough and durable enough to put in lots of training miles. The shoe also has a very sleek appearance to it so it appeals to those who may not be super big into running. I have enjoyed my time in the Pegasus 35 and would recommend it to anyone looking for a generic, versatile shoe. If you are looking to do more than 30-40 miles a week I would steer you toward the Vomero instead though.
