Great Support and Stability

Anonymous runner · Sep 28, 2025

4/5

Overall

The Kayanos are an extremely comfortable and durable shoe. Whether running repeats on the track or cranking miles on the road, these shoes provided me with the proper stability and comfort to keep going. Unlike other heavily cushioned shoes these are also relatively lightweight and allowed me to stay on my toes when running faster reps. One downside to these is the tighter frame, which has given me issues with blisters when running on hot days. The durability is high, however, lasting me more than three months. Aside from the uncomfortable frame these are the best shoes I’ve ever worn. I suggest these or any other Kayanos to any runner struggling with ankle or shin injuries.

Asics Kayano series - the best cushy trainer for overpronators?

Anonymous runner · Sep 28, 2025

5/5

Overall

Shoe provides excellent cushioning and support. You will feel REALY comfortable in this type of shoe. It's compared to some of it's competitors. That comes at a price that you can easily guess - weight. The shoe is not a light shoe by any means. For those who overpronate and are looking for a racing shoe, I would recommend either something from Asics Trainer/Racer series or New Balance 1500v3's both of those are really good, lighweight and supportive options. Overall really recommend Kayano's to runners with overpronation problems, especially to those who expect rack up a lot of miles.

Heavy as expected. Still took some adjusting. First few runs I noticed my hip flexors were a little sore. Wore this when I was increasing my mileage quickly. First part to wear was the inside of the shoe at the heel (800km). After that started coming apart I began to feel more strain on my Achilles and decided to retire them.

Overall

My recent shoes have been the Brooks Ghost, Clifton 1 and Clifton 2. The Gel-Kayano 22 is a comfortable shoe, but it feels like a rock compared to the Clifton 1 and 2 at nearly 3 ounces heavier with less cushion. As a larger runner who didn't start until the age of 45, the cushion and weight of the Clifton's is a much better match for me. I'm primarily using the Gel-Kayano's for sub-5-mile runs due to the weight and less cushion.
