Natural feel, but fades surprisingly fast

Anonymous runner · Sep 28, 2025

Overall

I ran in this shoe for some time as I was a high mileage collegiate runner and with some messed up bio-mechanics felt I needed the stability. This shoe model stood out for its sleekness, and I like the snug fit a lot, especially compared to past bulky stability shoes. The cushioning is great, even compared to other stability style shoes. The issue I have with it is that for a flagship model with a high price, the shoes doesn't actually hold up very well. The tread started going by the time I was closing in on 300 road miles, and the forefoot cushioning started fading soon after. I have had older Kayano models that have held up longer, but this issue has occurred in a few versions of this shoe so I am fairly confident something changed.

Asics Gel Kayano 23-24

Anonymous runner · Sep 28, 2025

Overall

They are too stiff. The new flytefoam is annoying. I loved the fluid ride from the 22's as they were more "cushiny." I get it that their lighter, but really the difference in being lighter won't make a difference for me as I use these for training and not racing. Now that Asics has switched totally to Flytefoam with the Kayano's I"m already scrambling to other brands to find a similar cushion to the 22 Kayanos. I still train with my current one's but it doesn't feel comfortable as they did.

So many Kayanos over the years

Anonymous runner · Sep 28, 2025

Overall

I’ve run in every iteration of Kayano since 2013. They’re the shoe I always go back to. Comfortable, lasts a good while on solid mileage and have always been good to me. Only issue with them is their normal price tag. I generally by an older model under $100 when I see them and stock up.
