A Solid All Around Shoe

The Peg has always been my go too trainer since my sophomore year of high school, I'm now a sophomore in college, and I feel the new version hits everything that I need it to. The shoe is still responsive enough to run faster in and has just enough comfort to jog easy miles in. My biggest issue with the newest generation of pegs (39 and 40) is they do not last long at all. I have popped the air pocket which is a majority of the cushion under your forefoot on about half of the pairs I have had after about 200 miles. This is extremely frustrating comparing them to older models which could last for almost 300 more for me. However I still will always keep a pair in my shoe rotation because of how versatile they are.

These shoes are amazing

Overall
These shoes are incredible. The midsole is identical to the 39s, but changing the upper completes the shoes. The comfort and breathability is amazing, but speed is also present.

Worst shoe I've ran in

Overall
Very disappointing. I had never ran in Nikes before yet had heard great things (along with some bad) about pegs. They felt extremely stiff, lacked cushion, and had no spring to them. The design of the shoe is good looking and it is a classic, but this means nothing if the shoe doesn't perform! I ended up getting injured in the shoe as well—admittedly this was my own fault, it had very little to do with the shoe—which has completely soured my experience wearing the shoe. I would not buy this shoe or another version of this shoe every again, and this has turned me off on any non-race shoe/spikes that nike makes.

Overall
The Peg 40 continues the tradition of a refined ride in an inexpensive package with reasonably good durability. The foam feels soft enough and the shoe gets out of the way in logging lots of miles.
