Still great, but a step back from the 2

Overall

These shoes are just fine. If I had never run in the Speed 2s, I would probably say that they are as good as any shoe that I’ve run in. These are a little wider and slower than the 2, so I’m able to do my easy (7:30) and tempo (6:15) runs in them, but I find myself looking for something else when I really want to crank it up, like 5:30 pace or so. There are always Saucony deals to be found, so they’re quite affordable. These shoes are great and I’d buy them again, just feel spoiled by the 2.

Not as fast as the original

I was dead set on trying the Speed 3 having enjoyed the hell out of my first plated shoe in the original Endo Speed. I still occasionally run in those amazing shoes - they have over 900km on them and they're still good for runs of less than 1hr. Their versatility was what set them apart from everything else I had tried up to that point.

In my first run the Speed 3's I was left slightly underwhelmed, while amazingly comfy, they lacked the pop that the first iteration had from the first step. They had the comfort, the looks and no doubt they will prove to be just as versatile, but I don't get the same joy from them at faster paces that I did in the originals.

I think Saucony have done this intentionally as the Speeds' brilliance was probably carving sales out from the Endo Pro model.

So, to sum up: great shoe, but not as good as the original.
