a shoe that fixed my chronic tight achilles/calf problems.

Overall

The Mizumo inspire 13 has a great fit, good room in the toe box for toe splay. For a trainer it is pretty light but with good cushioning and does not feel soft(I don't like shoes that are too soft). My foot lands in a mostly neutral way. For me the shoe does not feel like it takes any breaking in as some reviews say it does. I think it feels great out of the box. I get 475-500 miles out them and I weigh 164lb. My running background is I've run for 20+ years and tried most running shoe types/brands. My best race/marathon time is 2:29:55 in Chicago and almost every year I've had some kind of injury.. most often tight calves leading to tight Achilles tendon, sometimes leading to achilleas tendinitis and plantar fasciitis. After starting to run in the Mizuno inspire 13 my calves stopped being tight and I was able to increased my millage/speed with no tightness in my Achilles. I average 60mpw with intervals/tempo and long run in a week(if not racing that week). I rarely go beyond 80 mpw now as my work schedule dictates this but I also now know what kind of training works better for my body now. Not feeling a tight Achilles pain is like godsend, for years I've run with tight Achilles and now finally found a shoe that fixed this and helped me gain fitness back that I haven't seen in a while.

Overall

I switched to the Wave Inspire after many years in the Wave Rider. I started noticing that my sedentary work life required that I either spend a lot more time on maintenance of the little things to keep my form in check; deal with the new nagging pain in lower leg muscles or tendons near my calf; or take the shortcut and try a slightly more supportive shoe. The shoe change worked, and it still has the wave plate for the "feel" that I've gotten used to from Mizuno shoes.

Workhorse

Overall

Quality, workhorse of a shoe. Fairly light. I would say it’s on the stiff, responsive side. Great for supporting slight overpronation. Smooth midfoot strike. I didn’t get as many miles out of them (about 300) as I would have hoped, but not too bad.

Good quality shoe

Overall

I've been able to do some quality mileage in this shoe. It is a little bit bulky to run 200-400m repeats in, but you can manage. Really good for cruise mileage, long runs, that type of thing. Works just fine on trails, but every shoe does. I really love it. I loved the Wave Inspire 11s, and these are quite different, a lot bigger than those, but both are great shoes.
