Pros

  • Reviewers commonly get 500 to 1,000 miles before the outsole wears out.
  • Reviewers describe a firm, responsive ride and use it for tempos, races and easy days.
  • Averaging 8.2 oz across the men's and women's builds, it is lighter than the 8.9 oz median for daily trainers on sale.

Cons

  • Many reviewers find the cushioning too thin for high daily mileage.
  • Reviewers often describe the fit as narrow and snug.
  • Two reviewers say heavier runners get less from it, one at 190 lb seeing the midsole break down by 300 miles.

adidas Bostons are a good neutral trainer

5/5

Overall

I prefer training in a firm, neutral shoe. I split my runs between the Bostons for easy runs and the adios for workouts and road races. For me, running in anything more cushioned or stabilizing causes my foot strike to be very loud and for me to get injured more quickly. The Bostons have a narrow and flexible forefoot that works for me. Warning about the Boston TSF - they hold on to smell a lot more than the regular Boston.

A dream shoe for faster runners

5/5

Overall

After a bad experience with the Glide Boost 7 due to fit/finish problems, I was very hesitant to buy Adidas again despite the Boston being a different shoe I had never worn before. I had been a Saucony Kivara guy for years, but version 8 felt too narrow when compared to the 7s. After researching and trying out several different shoes, I took the plunge and bought the Boston 6. And what a good choice that has been! First of all, the shoes fit very nicely thanks to a nice, unconstrictive and highly breathable upper--this despite my wider feet. Feels like my feet can splay naturally. Heel hold is decent, though it could be better (like in the Adios 3). Not once have I had issues with blisters or hot spots. Running with the Bostons is a joy! They're perfectly cushioned for my taste, meaning mushy nor harsh. The ride is more responsive the faster you run. It's a light shoe that punches far above it's weight. While my longest run with them is only 16 km, my feet have felt perfectly fine during and after the run. The 10 mm drop doesn't bother me either since I'm coming back from an injury. As much as dislike gimmicky claims, the Continental outsole is amazing. Grip is incredibly on both dry and wet asphalt, and wear is practically unnoticeable after ~200 km. My only complaints are that the upper is not supportive enough and that it's far too permeable to the rain that has been ever present in the Rhine Valley since November Heel retention could also be better. I'm only being picky here though!

Fast, bouncy ride with enough cushion

5/5

Overall

Transition is smooth. Forefoot cushioning is sufficient. The shoe fits well and has nothing it doesn't need. Best shoe on the market right now for the fit runner.

adidas boston 6

4/5

Overall

Good fit if anything a little snug. True to size to perhaps a 1/2 smaller. Very nice and responsive springy ride. Even better under pace. If you have good biomechanics and neutral gate the responsiveness is impressive and almost eggs you to pick up the pace. Comfortable to train in or race. Very durable rubber outsole.

Overall

Good shoe overall. Very durable, I've been getting 600 miles+ out of each pair and they feel great every mile. They can handle pretty much every kind of run I would throw at them (long, recovery, intervals, etc).
